Residential driving courses

Want to learn to drive but the thought of taking lessons in a City Centre just fills you with dread. Why not come to the market town of Pontefract in West Yorkshire (WF8 4PQ) and take one of our residential courses at our state-of-the-art training centre. The roads are quiet, the test centre is just down the road and the cost of learning to drive is less expensive than in most major cities. Alternative locations around the UK are also available but at differing prices. Please call for details.

Three standard residential courses are provided by the local LDC driving school instructors in Pontefract. Each of the courses includes:

  • the appropriate number of hours of tuition namely 30, 20 or 15 of which 2 are reserved for the test itself
  • access to the LDC online students learning hub and mobile App
  • the LDC driving skills DVD video set and Workbook
  • the provision of a driving test at the end of the course

One week residential course

One week intensive driving course 30 hours

The One Week Pass 30 hour course (WF8 postcode price) is designed to take you from beginner to test standard over 6 days. Just add £75 per night to cover quality B&B. Midway residential course

The Midway Residential 20 hour course (WF8 postcode price) is designed to take learners who have already mastered the key control skills through to test standard over 5 days. Test booster residential course

Test booster residential intensive 15 hours driving course

The only prerequisite to booking a residential course is a valid UK provisional driving licence and Theory Test certificate number. If you have not yet passed your theory we can book this for you and provide you with access to the LDC learners online Theory hub. However, we can not book a Driving Test until you have passed a Theory Test.

Pontefract

Not only is Pontefract an ideal place to take a driving test/lessons it also has many things to offer visitors when they are not preparing for or taking their lessons. The rich history of Pontefract dates back to William the Conqueror. The ruins of Pontefract Castle are open to visitors most days. For horse racing enthusiasts, the Pontefract Race Course is just 5 minute walk from the Learner Driving Centre and is set in the beautiful surroundings of Pontefract Park. Xscape, is a large indoor entertainment centre,(restaurants, indoor skiing, movies, rock climbing, crazy golf, shopping and bowling) and is next door to the Junction 32 shopping centre which is only a short bus ride away (i.e. about 2 miles from the town centre). Bus stop right outside of the Learner Driving Centre or take a 2 mile stroll through Pontefract park to the Xscape. In addition, the medieval city of York is only 30 miles north and can easily be reached by train. Leeds is 15 miles away, Wakefield is 8 miles and Doncaster is 12 miles. Good rail and bus links are available to each of these cities.
