The lessons I took with Phil weren't what I was expecting when I signed up for the tightly structured semi-intensive course as advertised by LDC, but I say that in a good way. Rather than just be taken through the pre-structured lesson plan as was dictated by the LDC books and DVDs, each 2 hour lesson with Phil was tailored specifically to me and the skill level I was at. As soon as Phil was satisfied with my progress on a specific area we would move on to the next without wasting time. Combine this with Phil's active encouragement of practicing outside lessons with family and you get a progression through the techniques of driving that adapts with your skill level and can progress very quickly. I managed to reach test standard well ahead of my actual test date which gave me the option to dedicate a few of the later lessons to mock tests, which really helped my confidence in the actual test. As a result of Phil's methods I was able to progress from someone who had never driven to easily passing my test first time, all within one month.
As for the man himself there's nothing to fault. He's always a good laugh, easy to talk to and get along with, and has an un-natural ability to remain calm in all situations. Even if he has to step in and suddenly brake for you with the dual controls his attitude never seems to falter which really helps you stay calm as well, no matter what mistakes you may make while driving.
I have and will recommend him to everyone I know who wants to learn to drive.
